Become What You Are
We are designed for a direct experience of reality, here and now, via the complete and balanced functioning of mind. This experience is known as human consciousness or awareness.
Mind is essentially all functions supporting the relationship between environmental inputs as sensory data and behavioral outputs as action. However, mind is not just the sum of these functions; it is reality itself. Reality IS awareness.
Our modern environment is composed of conditions that skew the balanced functioning of mind, leading us to ignore and misconstrue direct experience. This is to the detriment of our health and wellbeing. We can restore complete awareness via implementation of zazen, the practice of seated meditation.
Zazen is the direct experience of reality, here and now. When fully engaged in the act of sitting, we experience reality as it truly is. This experience is the complete and balanced functioning of mind. Zazen practice enables us to realize this experience, moment to moment, restoring awareness as designed.
